The 2020 Carteau Côtes Daugay has a commendable, plush bouquet of ripe black cherries and blueberry fruit, the oak nicely integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with saturated tannins, moderate acidity, good grip and much better delineation on the finish compared to recent vintages that I have encountered. It needs a bit of taming during élevage; if that is successful, this could turn into a very decent Saint-Émilion.

Goede wijnmakers die Bertrands. Zie ook hun Château Franc Pipeau en Vieux Lescours, beide ook grand cru uit Saint-Émilion. Deze ook nog eens uit een heerlijk jaar. Briljant voor merlot en buitengewoon voor cabernet sauvignon en cabernet franc. Kan opgelegd worden maar laat zich ook nu al genieten. Donker fruit, zwarte bessen, donkere kersen, volle pruimen, schuchtere zuren, flintertje vanille, met beide handen laurier en rondborstige tannines.
