Ludovic & Julien Meffre: ‘This 2022 vintage is quite simply extraordinary, and the greatest we have ever produced to this day! Balance, rich tannins, aromatic expression (black fruit) and freshness are the watchwords here.’ De blend is 65% cabernet sauvignon & 35% merlot. A smaller St Julien that struggles to overcome the vintage, a shame because finding these independent properties in appellations such as St Julien is the holy grail of En Primeur. Here the flavours are a little overdone, intense slab of black chocolate, coffee bean, cassis, bitter on the finish, although there is structure and plenty of tannic grip. One to watch over ageing.

Medium-bodied, elegant, fresh, supple, and blackberries, leafy tobacco, and herbs with a touch of smoke are on the nose, and on the creamy, fresh, fruit-filled, elegant palate. This is a nice step-up with more concentration than you normally see in du Glana.
