Such beautiful tannins here that are refined and beautiful and bring you deep into the medium to full body. Currants and berries. Refined.
Robert Parker Wine Advocate
Offering up generous amounts of sweet berries, orange rind and licorice, the 2022 Prieuré-Lichine is medium to full-bodied, rich and layered, with a lively core of fruit that's framed by powdery tannins that assert themselves on the youthfully firm finish. This heavily morcellated estate (amounting to some 125 different parcels) continues to benefit from a more rigorous selection and better attention to detail regarding harvest dates.
Jeff Leve (The Wine Cellar Insider)
Flowers, blackberries, currants, espresso, and plums with a touch of cocoa form the nose. On the palate, the wine is loaded with lusciously-textured, ripe, polished fruits. There is a solid depth of flavor, good energy, and layers of black and red fruits on the mid-palate and in the creamy, fruit-packed finish.
Jane Anson (Inside Bordeaux)
Inky plum depths to the colours here are vivid and inviting, and on the palate you get plenty of character and spice. Things are high volume and intense, with ripe blackberry and loganberry fruit, autumnal but still with plenty of juice and texture. Good quality. 32hl/h yield.
The 2022 Château Prieuré-Lichine offers a pure, vibrant bouquet of red and blue fruits as well as plenty of cedarwood, tobacco, and a hint of iron. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, with nicely integrated tannins as well as outstanding overall balance, this well-made, impeccably balanced Margaux will drink nicely with just short-term cellaring. It's easily in the same ballpark quality-wise as the 2018, 2019, and 2020, all of which are beautiful wines. Tasted twice.
Vinous (Neal Martin)
The 2022 Prieuré-Lichine has a lively nose with blackberry, raspberry and violet scents that unfurl in the glass. Slightly high-toned and showy. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit, powdery in texture, graphite-infused black fruit with a classically-styled finish. Perhaps it needs just a little more length on the aftertaste, but this should still provide a couple of decade’s drinking pleasure.
The Wine Independent (Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW)
The 2022 Prieure-Lichine is deep garnet-purple in color. It tumbles out with eager-to-please scents of juicy blackcurrant, Morello cherries, and black raspberries, followed by hints of cedar, violets, and black truffles. The medium to full-bodied palate is densely packed with juicy black fruit and floral accents, supported by beautifully ripe, fine-grained tannins and a refreshing backbone, finishing long and fragrant. This is a very impressive showing for Prieure-Lichine.
