The 2020 Domaine de Cambes is a gorgeous, luxuriously deep wine done in Francois Mitjavile's gently oxidative, concentrated style. Sumptuous black cherry, plum, chocolate, espresso and licorice all meld toghether. Pliant and supple, with generous fruit, Domaine de Cambes is so expressive today. Like many 2020's it is a bit tigh, but that should not be an issue in another few year's time. The purity of the flavors is compelling.

Another absolute gem of a wine is the 2020 Roc De Cambes, which is mostly Merlot from vines just next to the Domaine de Cambes vineyards. Black cherries, plums, black raspberries, vanilla bean, camphor, and graphite are just some of its nuances, and this concentrated, singular, medium to full-bodied beauty is going to offer tons of pleasure over the coming 15 years as well.

An enjoyable wine from the Francois Mitjavile Roc de Cambes stable, made with grapes planted just outside of Bourg. Enjoyable, well balanced and cheerfully unfussy wine with a highly attractive smoky edge from carefully delivered oak. This is good stuff, and no need to wait.

Sporting a deep garnet-purple color, the 2020 Domaine de Cambes rolls out of the glass with exuberant notes of plum preserves, Black Forest cake and boysenberries, plus hints of star anise, cedar chest, camphor and smoked meats. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers mouth-coating black and blue fruit preserves, framed by chewy tannins and just enough freshness, finishing long and earthy.
