From vines planted in 1976, the 2021 Féniks includes 60% whole bunch with the rest of the whole berries under a submerged cap, aged on the lees for 11 months. This has a more articulate and complex bouquet than the 2019 with refined red berry fruit, wilted rose petal, and potpourri. Superb transparency. The palate is medium-bodied with edgy tannins, slightly chalky in texture, fresh and sapid with dark berry fruit laced with white pepper. This is a level up from the 2019, and it will drink beautifully over the next decade.

From Stellenbosch grapes. 60% whole-bunch fermentation. Again, exceptionally fragrant with notes of floral perfume, cherries, plums, herbs and spice while the palate is light bodied with vibrant acidity and fine tannins, the finish long and dry. Proof that Pinotage can be pretty.
