Fantastische Brunello uit één van de allerbeste oogstjaren 2015. Robijnrode wijn met granaatachtige reflecties, intense geuren van rode bessen, kruiden. In de mond is de wijn warm, vol, krachtig, maar toch ook elegant en prachtig in balans. Heerlijk intens fruit, mooie gelaagdheid, zachte tannines en een lang aanhoudende afdronk.
De wijngaarden van Piccolomini zijn gelegen nabij Castelnuovo dell' Abate in het zuiden van de Brunello DOCG. De druiven komen van de 8 ha. wijngaard met veel gesteente uit het Eloceen tijdperk. De ligging is tussen de 240 en 360 meter hoogte. De druiven worden handmatig geplukt.
Na de pluk en selectie op de beste kwaliteit worden de druiven zacht geperst. Vergisting geschiedt deels in roestvrijstalen vaten en deels in cementen vaten. De vergisting van de wijn geschiedt onder een gecontroleerde temperatuur. De verdere rijping van de wijn geschiedt in Slavonisch eiken vaten van 20 en 75 hl. voor een periode van 2 jaar. Hierna wordt de wijn gebotteld en blijft zij op de fles nog voor minimaal 8 maanden op de fles in de kelders van het domein voor verdere verfijning.

Extremely perfumed and decadent with dried flowers and spices and fresh mushrooms. Cherries,too. Full body. Solid core of fruit, yet ever so fine tannins. Goes on for minutes. Such beautifully crafted tannins. Drink after 2021.

The Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona estate enjoys a beautiful and huge expanse of vineyards at the back of the Castelnuovo dell'Abate village, where the downward slope of the hamlet meets the Orcia River, which delineates the appellation border. The estate's 2015 Brunello di Montalcino offers lovely harmony and elegance. The wine's taste profile follows the soft contours and beautiful horizons that characterize this beautiful part of Tuscany. The mouthfeel is medium-weight but carefully balanced with just enough acidity to add brightness. It shows just enough backbone to guarantee staying power and longevity. That said, the tannins are carefully integrated into the delicate fiber of the wine. This is no doubt one of the most graceful Brunellos to emerge from the 2015 vintage.
